Squall
That night the weather mustered one final insult for both parties holed up on Pothole beach. Near gale-force winds combined with three-digit temperatures and 100% humidity to produce a punishment unequal to anything we have experienced in almost forty years. Due to the perspiration factor, sleeping bags seemed out of the question at first; yet we found them essential as the only means of avoiding the stinging sand and salt-laden spray that showered over us throughout the night. I have no idea how our friends managed; but for us, sleeping was a matter of sheer willpower. Despite this and the problems of the day, however, we somehow managed a good measure of rest.
